COURSE OF STUDY

Our Cosmetology program incorporates 1,500 hours of expansive hands-on learning to provide the student with a complete understanding of the beauty industry. Upon completion, the student will be prepared for the many career opportunities available.

The student is instructed in all areas of theory related to hairdressing and cosmetology, as well as Connecticut state laws. Theory is taught using Milady’s CIMA, a cloud based interactive learning tool. In the practical/clinical segment, students work in a salon environment where they are assigned live models or work on a mannequin to gain experience on various services while under the supervision of an instructor. Classroom demonstrations and visual presentations are also used.

THEORY AND PRACTICAL/CLINICAL

Our comprehensive program incorporates an in-depth review of theory from the Milady virtual curriculum, hands-on training in cutting, coloring, and styling, as well as weekly demonstrations from leading industry professionals.

CIMA by Milady is a cloud-based interactive learning tool. Each chapter has a learning path that must be followed from beginning to end on a computer, laptop, or tablet. At the end of each chapter there is a final exam, students must achieve a grade of 70% or higher (0–69% is a failing grade) to pass the exam and receive credit hours.

Once all 32 chapters are complete, students will begin their senior review. At this time, students will prepare for the state licensing exam through a series of timed practice tests that mirror the state’s final licensing exam.

Once the student consistently scores 80% or above on the practice tests, they are encouraged to schedule an appointment for the state exam.
